Jets and splashes

A. Antkowiak and C. Josserand

When drop impacts or interface is strongly sublitted to a shock, spectacular jet and splashes can be formed. We propose to study the formation of these jets and splashes in simple situations: hemispheric impact, cavity retraction for instance. The student might have to use both analytical approaches (pressure impact theory for instance), numerical simulations and experiments.
